A Strictly Come Dancing star has joined the adult website OnlyFans and has asked that people "respect" his decision to join the site. OnlyFans is an adult website where often sexual content is posted.
John Whaite, who won the Great British Bakeoff in 2012, appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2021. He was partnered with Johannes Radebe in the first ever all-male pairing on the show.
They narrowly missed out on the Glitterball trophy after they came second to Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice. Now the star has made the move to OnlyFans.
In a lengthy Instagram post the baker explained his decision. He told fans he was going to use the site to post his "cheekier gym progress posts" and believes these posts belong on a website "where age restriction is better handled".
He said: "I've decided to move some of my content over to OnlyFans. Before anyone gets the wrong impression please let me reassure you that I am not doing porn.
"The reasons I'm moving content to OnlyFans are:...The cheekier gym-progress posts I sometimes share are more appropriately situated in an area where age-restriction is better handled."
John also addressed any reaction to his decision. He said: "I know that in spite of this clear explanation, some of you may still have some quite strong opinions about my decision, but I ask that you respect it and keep an open heart and open mind."
Other celebrities have come under fire for joining the adult website including Sarah Jayne Dunn, who was forced to quit her role on Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks once she had joined OnlyFans. Once finding out that Sarah joined the website in lockdown, Hollyoaks bosses said that she would have to stop posting on the website or leave the show, crediting their younger viewers as the reason.
Sarah chose to leave the soap and stay on OnlyFans, citing the financial benefits and being in control of what she posted among the reasons.
