Will Mellor has been singled out for praise by Strictly Come Dancing fans for being ‘the only one’ to praise who are they are dubbing ‘the real stars’ of Blackpool week - the backing dancers.
Former Hollyoaks star Will, now a Coronation Street villain, was labelled the one to watch after the first week of the new series, when he and pro partner Nancy Xu lit up the floor with their jive, becoming immediate favourites to win the Glitterball trophy this year. Will and Nancy’s scores took a big tumble in week two, before their Strictly journey suffered a big bump in the road when Will was struck down by a virus, forcing him to fall behind in rehearsals.
Fortunately for them, there scores have started to become consistently good again and Will and Nancy had the job of rounding off proceedings in the legendary Tower Ballroom on Saturday night, when they performed a sensational samba which brought a flavour of a Rio carnival to Blackpool.

The judges delighted at the ‘return’ of Will’s hips and praised the energy of the routine and his footwork.
Will and Nancy scored an excellent 35 out of 40 for their dance and, Will was quick to thank the backing dancers as she and Nancy awaited the comments from the judges, going round to hug them and shake their hands as the music stopped.
And his shout out to the ‘unsung hero’ pros did not go unnoticed by viewers at home. One tweeted: “Will thanking the other dancers is an act of pure class."
Will and Nancy's high octane performance together with the other dancers, clearly struck a chord with viewers at home as the couple avoided the dance-off once again and sailed through to another week.
