Will Mellor has admitted he was left 'a bit annoyed' by the Strictly Come Dancing judges' comments to him on Saturday night, after he battled through his latest performances through illness, after being struck down by a virus earlier in the week.
Prior to last weekend, Two Pints of Lager star Will had been bookies' favourites ever since his routine in the first live show blew everyone away. Experts kept their faith in him as frontrunner, even when his scores took a dip seven days later, before he and pro partner Nancy Xu bounced back to fine form in Movie Week.
But, just days later, Will, 46, was dealt a massive blow when he became really ill with a virus, hampering his Strictly training and forcing him to miss a number of rehearsals. You could see that Will was struggling as he and Nancy took to the ballroom to perform a rumba to Ed Sheeran's The Joker and the Queen on Saturday and the judges comments reflected what viewers saw on screen, with them then awarding the pair their lowest score of the series so far - just 23 out of 40.

Will looked visibly frustrated at how things had gone, with his ill health clear with the croak in his voice as he spoke to host Claudia Winkleman. He had a more encouraging update for fans on Monday, when he revealed that he and Nancy were getting stuck into their training ahead of Saturday's BBC special.
But, speaking to PA, he did own up to being slightly aggrieved by what the judges said at the weekend, given that they knew he was poorly.
He explained: " “I was a bit annoyed by it, to be honest, because I was struggling, and when you’re that way you feel a bit sorry for yourself, and when I got the scores I was a bit, ‘After all that…?!’. I got a four from Craig [Revel Horwood], but that’s just the way it is.
"They have to judge it as they see it, and that’s up to them. Maybe I shouldn’t have [danced], because the judges slagged me off – I should’ve just left it!”
Will did also defend the judges and their feedback, adding: "“It’s hard taking criticism when you’re not feeling great. I don’t want it to come across that I’m complaining about the judges’ scoring – that’s part of the competition."
