Strictly Come Dancing's Will Mellor backed by family after score setback

Will Mellor has revealed the support he's been getting from his family as he aims to bounce back from his Strictly Come Dancing disappointment.

After being behind Fleur East and Helen Skelton in the Strictly odds before the first live show, former Hollyoaks star Will shot past his rivals after a blistering start to his journey on the BBC a few weeks ago. After wowing both the judges and viewers at home, Will and pro partner Nancy Xu earned one of the highest scores in Strictly history for their week one jive to Ricky Martin's Livin' La Vida Loca.

Bookies immediately put Will as red hot favourite to win however, after his odds of winning were slashed, Will,. most famous for starring as Gaz in Two Pints of Lager, suffered a bit of a setback on Saturday night, when his scores dropped considerably from a week earlier, as he and Nancy did a salsa that was littered with a few too many mistakes.

That earned Will and Nancy 26 out of 40, 8 less than a week earlier, putting them in the middle of the leaderboard, behind the likes of Molly Rainford, Richie Anderson, Fleur East and Tyler West, In the aftermath of their performance, Nancy apologised to Will for 'pushing too hard,' while Will was reassured by host Claudia Winkleman as he said sorry to his children watching at home for letting them down.

And now, after it's been revealed that Will and Nancy will be dancing an American Smooth to Cry to Me from Dirty Dancing as he remains as bookies favourite,, the 46-year-old has paid tribute to his family for their support, chiefly his sister who has been backing him from her café, Mellor's, in Stockport. Sharing a picture of his sister, mum and café staff, Will wrote: "Loving the support from me mum, sister and all the staff at Mellor's Café Bar. I'll just keep doing my best for you."
