Strictly Come Dancing's Tyler West voted off as fans 'work out' real reason for his shock exit

Tyler West has been voted off BBC's Strictly Come Dancing. After an emotional exit speech, the radio DJ took to the dance floor on the show for the last time but not before fans declared that they had worked out the real reason for the shock vote off decision.

Partnered with professional dancer Dianne Buswell, Tyler found himself in the bottom two and facing a dance off alongside Molly Rainford and her partner Carlos Gu. As Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse all voted to save Molly and Carlos, it was time for Tyler to pick up his dancing shoes and leave the show.

Interviewed by co-host Tess Daly after the result was announced, Tyler said: "I’m more than a two-step now! When you watch the show at home, you wonder what it must be like to dance on it, it’s everything and more, it’s changed my life. This girl here has changed my life for sure. To think I was some shy kid who never used to talk to anyone, to dancing in front of millions, I can’t put it into words."

Tyler, who became the eighth star to leave the BBC programme after Tony Adams' exit last week, continued: "It’s my mum’s favourite show, I bought her to Blackpool, my nan bless her was always watching over me on this journey. But more importantly, this show has changed my life in the sense it’s given me confidence, a newfound family, every dancer, everyone in hair and make-up, costume. The judges, it’s been amazing to dance in front of you every week, I genuinely mean that."

He added: "But this girl here, I have been blessed with the best, she is what Strictly is about and she’s changed my life, I have no doubt she will be in my life forever." Dianne also had some sweet words for Tyler as she thanked him for making her Strictly experience so special.

She said: "You have been an absolute joy to work with, when I say that, you have come in every single session with the biggest smile on your face and it lights up this whole ballroom. You are such a talent, you really are and you should feel so proud, I am so proud of you, your family are so proud and your nan is so proud of you. Thank you so much for everything".

Fans of the show soon expressed their opinion on the voting and what they thought was the real reason for Tyler's exit. According to the Mirror, they blamed a part of the costume. "New strictly curse in town is that Afro wig. It’s taken out @AstonMerrygold and it’s just done @TylerWestt dirty as well. #Strictly," one wrote, as a second added: "I said Tyler would go from #strictly yesterday when he first appeared with that wig - before they even danced - Afro wigs are the kiss of death on strictly - no one votes for wigs or face covering masks."

A third shared: "The Afro wig that Tyler & Aston have worn is the REAL Strictly Curse #Strictly," with a fourth writing: "(This is cast iron proof that the wig should be taken outside and destroyed in a controlled explosion, it is cursed). #Strictly."

  • Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday, November 26, at 7.15pm.
