Tess Daly has blown the cover of one of the worst kept secrets in TV, that the Strictly Come Dancing results show are not live, with a telling comment ahead of the semi final.
Presenter Tess has been at the helm of the hit BBC show since it started 18 years ago, firstly alongside Bruce Forsyth and then more recently with Claudia Winkleman. There has been changes to the show's schedule for two weeks in a row, with the quarter final moved to Friday night and then this week's semi shunted out of its traditional Saturday night slot as the nation turned into see England be knocked out of the World Cup by France.
What angered Strictly fans about the move was that football wasn't even on BBC, with ITV airing it instead, yet the BBC still decided to push the semi final back a day. That has also had a knock on effect on this week's results show, with that now airing on Monday, despite the latest elimination actually happening on Sunday.

For years, the BBC have tried to keep up the pretence that the results shows are live on a Sunday, with the judges careful to use the words 'Saturday night' or 'last night' when referring to the performances. However, Tess unintentionally confirmed that the results show are in fact filmed in advance when she was writing about the semi final on Instagram and the fact Strictly would be going live on a Sunday 'for the first time.'
Posting a selfie of her en route to the studio, Tess wrote: "Off to rehearsal’s, because for the first time ever…we’re going live on Sunday night!" And it didn't take long for her followers to jump on her comment, with one replying: "I thought Sunday’s was live" and a second commenting: "I thought we were meant to believe you’re live every Sunday for the results!!!!!!"
