Strictly Come Dancing's Shirley Ballas called out over 'disrespectful' blunder

Fans of Strictly Come Dancing took to Twitter to call out judge Shirley Ballas over a "disrespectful" blunder involving professional dancer Diane Buswell.

During Saturday night's show, radio star Tyler West and partner Diane wowed the audience with their sultry Viennese Waltz to I’ve Been Loving You Too Long by Seal. But during her feedback, Shirley appeared to call Diane 'Diana' several times which many viewers thought was "rude".

Although their dance went down well, viewers at home rushed to Twitter to point out Shirley's name blunder, the Mirror reports. One Strictly viewer tweeted: "Diane trying not to correct Shirley about her name."

"I assumed I misheard last week when I thought Shirley called Diane 'Diana' but I'm certain she is actually calling her that?? #strictly " another echoed.

"Tess and Claudia did it tonight too I noticed," someone else replied, while a fourth unimpressed viewer added: "Madness! Diane's been a pro on here for YEARS, how do they still not know her name??"

Yet another annoyed Strictly fan tweeted: "I do think it rude of Shirley calling Diane, Diana." While someone else shared: "OMG Shirley getting Diane’s name wrong again why don’t they correct her? Disrespectful to her and Ellie tonight."

Others claimed they were 'sick to the teeth' of Shirley making the blunder, as they begged Strictly bosses to 'have a word' with her. It comes just days on from Tyler being grilled over rumoured romances behind the scenes.

On Tuesday, Tyler downplayed the recent reports of him "flirting" with co-star Molly Rainford, and insisted he was single. Actress and singer Molly, 21, and Kiss FM DJ Tyler, 26, were pictured together outside of the Pride of Britain awards party on Monday evening.

They quickly faced speculation of a romance, with Tyler said to have "impressed Molly". Lorraine host Lorraine Kelly was quick to grill Tyler over his relationship status, and the recent rumours about his love life.

But Tyler was quick to downplay talks of a romance, and revealed that was not on his mind right now. Tyler said: "No, no, there's no time for any of that. Spending time with yourself, yeah, the best time right now."

Lorraine then brought it up again at the end of the interview, saying: "I can't believe you're single, it's ridiculous." Laughing the comment off, Tyler told her: "Don't you start, don't... thank you Lorraine."

A Strictly insider apparently told The Sun about the rumours last week: "Everyone on the show is talking about how flirty the pair are.

"They’re both young and single and have really hit it off and so it feels like romance is on the cards. They always seem to be smiling and having a laugh.

"Tyler is well known on set for his banter and friendly nature and has definitely impressed Molly with his sense of humour." Molly herself downplayed rumours of a romance recently too.

Strictly Come Dancing airs its results show on Sunday at 7.15pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
