Former Strictly Come Dancing stars Ola and James Jordan are expecting their first child after undergoing a “tough process” of IVF.
Speaking to HELLO! magazine, the couple revealed that Ola, 36, became pregnant after her first round of IVF in June, after doctors told them they had only a 50 per cent chance of success on the initial attempt.
She and James, 41, said that their baby, who is due in March 2020, appeared to be dancing in their 12-week scan.
Ola told Hello! magazine: “I still can’t quite believe it… I don’t think it’s properly sunk in.”
“When we had the scan it was funny because the baby was dancing. I’m not sure if it was a cha-cha or a jive, but it was definitely dancing,” she said.
The dancers were trying for a baby, before undergoing IVF, for nearly three years, HELLO! said.
Dancing On Ice winner James revealed: “Finding out that we are pregnant is no doubt our biggest achievement ever.
“This is probably the most special and exciting thing that has ever happened to us…
“When the doctor explained the only route for us to get pregnant would be IVF, it was tough to process. It’s not something any couple ever thinks will happen to them.
“I’m so glad I get to see her become a mum because it’s all she’s ever really wanted. To me, she was the best dancer in the world. Now she will be, without a doubt, the best mum.”
Sharing a new portrait of him and his wife holding a copy of their ultrasound scan, James said that he and Ola “have been waiting for this moment for what seems like an eternity.”
“After being with each other for 20 years & our love for each other growing stronger every day we can now share our amazing news that we are expecting a baby!!” he wrote on Twitter.
The couple met in 1999 and then became dance partners before tying the knot in October 2003. They joined Strictly in 2006, with James leaving in 2013 and Ola following in 2015.
