Strictly Come Dancing's Kaye Adams admits lying about her age to her own daughter

Strictly Come Dancing's Kaye Adams has admitted she lied about her age to her daughter.

The Loose Women host, 59, will soon be centre stage on the BBC show, but probably wanted to hide when her 'shameful' fib was exposed.

Kaye had told her daughter Charly, now 20, she was 10 years younger - only for her daughter's friend to find out the truth on Google.

Charly had got into a row with a friends at school about her mother's age and accused her friend of lying.

Speaking about her upset, Kaye said: "Watching my little girl’s face fall into shock and confusion as I dropped into our chat what I thought was an insignificant, if not comic, confession — not to mention the resulting wave of shame and anger I rapidly felt with myself."

"It breaks my heart to know now that such was her trust in me that she convinced herself the internet was wrong," reports MailOnline.

Kaye revealed she confessed her true age to her daughter Charly when she was 10-years-old and Adams was approaching her 50th birthday.

The mum-of-two says she's signed up for Strictly as "later-life folly" and feels no pressure to win, but only to enjoy herself.

Ironically, Kaye said it's only now she's older she's got the confidence to "give it a go" admitting the fact she lied about her age to her daughter seems "even more ridiculous now".

The Scottish star hopes her professional partner for the new Strictly show will be gay.

The TV presenter fears a young heterosexual hunk would be embarrassed jiving with a woman old enough to be his mother.

Speaking to the Mirror, Kaye said: “I would feel embarrassed for them – because a young, hot heterosexual will be like he’s dancing with his mum.

“But if I got a nice gay guy, he’ll be fine with dancing with his mum.”

The host also accepts she could be ditched in the show’s first week, but is going to enjoy it regardless.

She said: “I’m worried it’s going to look tragic, a woman of my age – the whole thing about trying to appear dancey when you’re older.

“There’s absolutely no shame being voted out in the first week. My goal is to try to enjoy it.

“I am terrified. Everything in me wanted to say no. If I enjoy it, it will be a success.

"If I get voted out in the first week, so be it.”
