Strictly Come Dancing's Jayde Adams thanks 'nice people' for checking in on her after being trolled by bodyshamers

Bristolian comedian Jayde Adams hit back at bodyshaming trolls once again following another successful weekend on Strictly Come Dancing. The Bedminster native, who is partnered with professional dancer Karen Hauer for the 20th series of the ballroom dancing show, has received backlash from online trolls due to her weight, many of whom have been on the receiving end of a sassy comeback from the 37-year-old.

Despite the countless compliments Jayde has received from judges and members of the public who watch the BBC show, some fans have been worrying about the state of Jayde's mental health due to the criticism she receives from some viewers. So much so, that they have started to message her directly, asking if she is okay.

Jayde has now addressed the outpouring of support she has received from 'lots of nice people', whilst showing how unbothered she is by those who choose to say 'silly things about [her] weight'. The comedy star shared a quote on Instagram, which read: "Them: She shouldn't be on Strictly because she's fat."

Underneath the first line, the quote continued: "Me: If I stay on Strictly, I'll get less fat."

Captioning the post, Jayde wrote: "Dear you lot, I’m getting lots of nice people sending me many DM’s worrying about my mental health because stupid people are saying silly things about my weight after my thighs went viral on Saturday night.

"You need to know, I would never allow someone who doesn’t see the idiocy of this logic, to affect my mental health AND if it did creep in, not only do I have Karen but I’m surrounded by people who would either gather round me or if it got REALLY bad, they’d track them and pay them a visit I’m sure.

"If there was something that wrong with me, I wouldn’t be able to dance 6 hours every day and lift Karen. Because of how stupid this logic is, I suspect their issues aren’t to do with me at all. But women always get it in the neck don’t they. I’m not ignoring it, I’m addressing it. The more I show resilience to it, the more other people will be able to and that’s useful I think."

The star added: "I love the love though. All MY love, from me and my massive thighs."

Last weekend, Jayde and Karen received the amazing news that they'd made it through to the next week of the competition following their incredible cha-cha-cha to Flashdance's 'What A Feeling'. The dynamic duo were unable to contain their excitement as they heard the news, and fans watching along at home expressed their love for the pair on Twitter, with many seeing themselves in fiercely confident Jayde.

BBC Radio 2 presenter Kate Bottley tweeted: "It's been a strange and tough old week for me, so I needed tonight's #Strictly. I cried big fat happy tears twice. At @jaydeadams and her utter joy and just how fierce she looked and at @TonyAdams and his complete surrender to looking daft for the entertainment of others."

@purdue14 replied to Kate Bottley: "You're a good person Kate. Jayde and Tony perfectly illustrate what Strictly should be. They're entertaining us, but also representing so many of us."
