But host Claudia Winkleman caught up with Helen after she was voted through and the former Blue Peter presenter was asked about her next dance, which will involve an emotional nod to her past.
Next week is theme tune week on Strictly, and Claudia Winkleman asked Helen Skelton about a dance to a theme tune 'very close' to her heart.
Helen then revealed that she and Gorka will be dancing to the Blue Peter theme tune - the children's magazine programme on which Helen first made her presenting breakthrough.
"It will be quite emotional for you because Blue Peter was fantastic," Claudia said to her.
Helen then replied: "What is better than a job where your only purpose is to excite kids about the world?
"That was my job for seven years. You are going to be so bored of me going on about it."
This weekend is the first time Helen has been on the BBC1 show since news of Richie Myler's new baby.
The former Leeds Rhinos rugby player, 32, broke up with ex-Blue Peter presenter Helen just four months after she gave birth to their third child, back in April. Richie's friends have said he's "thrilled" to be expecting with Stephanie as their newfound romance continues.
Helen, 39, is said to be keeping 'cordial relations' with her ex as she takes part in Strictly Come Dancing. She learned the news before the couple announced it on Instagram.
Richie's friend told The Sun : “The timing of the pregnancy may raise a few eyebrows though. It is obviously such a huge step, and one made remarkably quickly off the back of Helen and Richie’s eight-year marriage ending."
Strictly Come Dancing returns next Saturday, October 22 on BBC1.
Strictly It Takes Two is back on Monday, October 17 at 6.30pm on BBC2.
