Strictly Come Dancing's Helen Skelton now bookies' favourite to win BBC show

Helen Skelton has overtaken Fleur East as the bookies' favourite to win Strictly Come Dancing ahead of the shows launch tomorrow, Friday, September 23.

The former Blue Peter presenter has previously admitted that it will be "difficult" to get close to her pro partner on the dancefloor.

Odds on Helen to take home the glitterball trophy are at 7-2.

Other contestants that fans are backing for the win at this stage are singer and actor Will Mellor (11-2), singer Matt Goss (7-1) and Paralympian Ellie Simmonds (8-1), according to William Hill.

We reported previously how Helen said she would rather be on rival show Dancing on Ice.

The Countryfile and former Blue Peter presenter, 39, has admitted that if she had a choice, she'd rather be a contestant on the ITV show.

Helen began presenting the BBC’s Blue Peter in 2008 and moved to Countryfile five years later.

She now heads up Channel 4's rugby league coverage.
