Strictly Come Dancing’s Helen Skelton has opened up about her public marriage breakdown from husband Richie Myler as she insisted that she doesn’t want to “play the victim”.
The Blue Peter presenter has plenty to keep her busy as she is currently competing on the BBC hit dancing competition alongside her professional partner Gorka Márquez.
Before Helen stepped foot on the dance floor she was Bookies favourite to win however it hasn’t been smooth sailing as she recently struggled to find her “sexy side”.

Professional partner Gorka gave Helen a sweet speech as he openly spoke out about how she had been “made to feel not good enough”.
Last week on Strictly after the pair received a 29 for their Paso Doble, Gorka said: “I know you have been having a difficult time and I know you’ve been made to feel like you’re not beautiful or good enough. But if you don’t believe in yourself, I believe in you, everybody here believes in you, your family believes in you.”
He continued: “It doesn’t matter how many times I say it or the judges say it or anybody says it, it’s only you that’s going to make the change and the one who needs to believe in you. You’re an amazing woman…amazing mum and incredible dancer so believe in yourself please.”
The sweet gesture comes after the news that Richie was expecting a baby with his new partner, Express reports.
In a recent interview, Helen admitted there are “days when she’s p***ed off”, but that she ultimately doesn’t “see herself as a victim”.
She explained: “There’s loads of stuff to ask me about that’s really interesting, that’s not, ‘Ohhh, poor you. I don’t see myself as a victim, no, because I mean, look… There are a lot of people who have been in my situation who haven’t been given the opportunities that I’ve got.”
While Helen would not discuss Richie’s recent social media posts, or reports that he is expecting a child with his new partner, she did stress the importance of keeping her children happy.
“You cannot have any opinion on anyone else’s life until you’ve walked in those shoes,” Helen remarked. “And my family are happy, my kids are happy, and that’s all ultimately that matters.”
The star kept this sentiment when she recalled how uncertain she was about competing in Strictly Come Dancing due to how much exposure there would be for her family.
“I think it would have been disrespectful for me to have not done Strictly,” she reflected. “For my family, who need to see me have a great time. It’s not just for me. When you’ve got kids, if they’re happy, you’re happy.”
