Strictly Come Dancing's Helen Skelton injured after falls in training

Strictly Come Dancing's Helen Skelton is nursing a few injuries after a few falls in training. The Countryfile presenter is preparing for a "special" dance for Saturday night's show however it hasn’t been smooth sailing as she said she'd taken a few knocks during the preparations in the studio.

Helen said she was very looking forward to being able to dance to a song that was the soundtrack to her big TV break.

Before she had even stepped foot on the dancefloor she was Bookies' favourite to win. This weekend, alongside Gorka she will perform a Charleston to the Blue Peter theme tune for Strictly's BBC 100th birthday special, reports Chronicle Live.

Giving an update from rehearsals on Wednesday, Helen said she was very excited to be able to dance to a song that was the soundtrack to her big TV break but, appearing as a guest on Friday's Lorraine, she did admit it hadn't been all plain sailing in the lead up to Saturday night.

Speaking to guest host Ranvir Singh, Helen said: "I'm so excited about this week, because I get to do a Charleston to the Blue Peter theme tune. I was a Blue Peter for so many years; loved it, it was my identity, so the chance to do a fun dance to this, I'm really excited."

As former Strictly star Ranvir talked about how the Charleston steps can be rather tricky to master and how 'you've got to really go for it.'

Helen explained there had been a few painful moments in the dance studio, replying: "My ankles are fine, but my knees are bruised to high heaven! 'Cos we do a few tricks and obviously, they take a bit of practise. You know it's a fine line between brave and stupid, so I go for it with the tricks and yeah, there's been a few falls!"
