Strictly Come Dancing's Helen Skelton forced to hide after glass bottle allegedly thrown during night out

A Strictly Come Dancing contestant had to race for cover in an alleyway after a glass bottle was thrown towards her, reports suggest. On a night out with some of the other contestants, Helen Skelton, was reportedly forced to hide in an alleyway after the evening took a turn for the worst.

The former Blue Peter presenter was out with a Strictly backing dancer, Paralympian Ellie Simmonds, Tyler West, Molly Rainford and Neil Jones as they took a break from the UK tour of the dancing competition.

However, as the group were making their way back from the hotel during the early hours of Friday morning they encountered an alleged fight, which has reportedly led to a man being arrested reports Lancashire Live. In photographs shown by The Sun, Helen could be seen to be shaken by the incident.

A source stated that the group had been "having a great time" on the BBC tour but were left shocked when things "kicked off". They went on to say: "Two groups of lads were fighting and bottles and glasses went flying, none of the Strictly people were involved in the fighting, they were innocent passers-by caught up in it.

"A bottle came close to hitting Helen, smashing right by her feet, but she jumped out of the way." They then explained that the mum of three then hid in an alley until the fight was dispersed after members of West Yorkshire Police intervened and arrested a 35-year-old man.

A spokesperson for the force said: "At 2.56am on Friday, police were called to a report of a fight involving a group of males in Duncan Street and Call Lane in Leeds city centre. Officers attended and arrested a man on suspicion of affray.

"He remains in custody and enquiries are ongoing. There were no reports of any injuries." Helen had been performing at the nearby First Direct Arena when some of the team decided to let their hair down and have a night out.

Although she was partnered with Gorka Marquez during the live show, Helen is now dancing with Kai Widdrington for the tour. Having completed their performance in Leeds, the group has now ventured to Manchester's AO Arena and will offer four performances for fans across two days.

The Mirror approached Helen's representatives for comment.
