Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden was rushed to hospital for the second time in two months.
The professional dancer, 31, suffered a Crohn's disease flare-up, which left her unable to perform on the show's tour.
Amy had to miss one of Strictly's shows last year due to the condition, which affects the digestive tract.
On Monday, the dancer confirmed that she narrowly missed performing on the weekend in Manchester.
In an emotional post on Instagram, Amy shared a photo of her ready to go on stage and another taken hours later in which she can be seen lying in a hospital bed.
Captioning the post she said: "Not quite the weekend performing in Manchester I was expecting.
"The one picture is me ready to dance the following is literally a few hours later. Just want to help spread the awareness of my hidden chronic illnesses.
"To me, IBD [inflammatory bowel disease] is at its cruellest when it takes me away from my biggest passion, dancing!"
Amy then paid tribute to her cast members, writing: "I can't thank my fellow cast enough… it certainly helps to have some strapping male dancers there to help carry you too. I love you all!"
The star added that she received "incredible care" in Manchester and thanked her fans were for all their support.
She concluded: "Thank you for the incredible care I received in Manchester hospital and biggest thanks to all the fans that have sent such beautiful messages!
'I'm feeling so much better, and I'll be back dancing with the gang, living the dream before you know it! Lots of Welsh love."
A source close to the star told MailOnline that thankfully Amy was on the mend.
They said: "She was disappointed and hates letting down the fans, but she will back on her feet again in no time and is already feeling lots better.
"The entire team is always there to support her, Shirley Ballas especially, whose niece has the same illness."
The source added that Shirley had been worried about Amy before they set off to Manchester from Leeds and asked the dancer if she would prefer to travel with her rather than the cast.
Amy was partnered with McFly frontman Tom Fletcher, 36, on the last series of Strictly.
Despite her setback, she will no doubt be looking forward to getting back to the tour with Strictly champion Rose Ayling-Ellis, Sara Davies, Max George, Maisie Smith, Tilly Ramsay, Rhys Stephenson, and John Whaite.
