Emmerdale's Adam Thomas leaves wife in tears at breakfast with surprise trip

Former Emmerdale star Adam Thomas has shared his incredible romantic gesture for his wife Caroline to mark their fifth wedding anniversary.

The soap star, who played Adam Barton on the long running ITV soap, took to Instagram on Wednesday, August 31, to share a reel of the surprise he set up for his other half, which left her in floods of tears.

Adam married his wife Caroline in 2017 and the pair have two children Teddy and Elsie-Rose. This month marks five years of being husband and wife and the actor certainly pulled it out of the bag in surprising Caroline.

The reel showed Caroline in tears as she came downstairs to breakfast to a string quartet, before he surprised her with a trip to Ibiza to spend some quality time together - without the children - giving her just two hours to pack for before leaving.

Adam shared the adorable clip with his one million followers, and captioned the post: "What a whirlwind that was!! Surprising the wife on our 5th year of being married with a string quartet at breakfast, and then I broke the news that we we were flying to Ibiza, in two hours time! Can’t tell you how much fun we had from start to finish!

"A trip we both shall never forget!!..Here’s to another 5 years married, thank you for being the beautiful girl you are…you make my life complete."

The comments section was quickly flooded with celebrity pals congratulating the couple and Adam on his efforts, Liz Fletcher quipped: "Can you have a word with @kelvin_fletcher please! This is incredible!"

Brother and Love Island star Scott Thomas penned: "Ah when will I meet my Caroline? Love u guys xxx", singer Fleur East said: "This is so beautiful!", while Towie's Lydia bright commented a string of crying emoji faces.

Adam Thomas is set to put on his dancing shoes this year as he takes part in BBC's Strictly Come Dancing. Despite being happily married he joked that he wants to "experience the Strictly curse".

He said: "Bring it all on, I love a bit of glitz and glam. I was going to say something then, but it might get blown out of context… I just want to experience the Strictly curse."

The so-called "Strictly curse" refers to couples on the show ending up in real relationships, often at the expense of their spouse or partners at home. However, it would seem Adam is only joking about falling for it as he is happily married, often sharing pictures on Instagram of him and his family.

He added: "I think they should have cameras behind the scenes; it's a good shout you heard it here first. I'm not the best dancer in the world, I wish.

"Though once I've had a drink, I do believe I'm the best dancer in the world. Sober it is a completely different story.

"I have never won anything in my life so it would be nice but I'm not necessarily competitive. I try to do my best in anything I sign up to but as cheesy and cliché as it sounds it's about the journey and experience you go through.

"Kelvin Fletcher surprised us all… we knew he could dance but not to that extent. We would always go out and have a bit of a dance and he would pull out the Kelvin shuffle but I never knew he had that in his locker.

"I'd have to win it or he'd never let me live it down. Not only that, he won Strictly and now he's at the National Theatre so he's really starting to p*** me off a little bit!"

Nothing has been confirmed from the BBC or Strictly Come Dancing about the new series, but the news of Adam getting his dancing shoes on is bound to please fans. Strictly Come Dancing returns later in the year.
