Strictly Come Dancing result sees James Bye go as Fleur East dealt birthday blow

Fleur East had a birthday she'll want to forget as she landed in the bottom two once again on Strictly Come Dancing, as James Bye was sent packing from the ballroom.

For the second time in as many writ, with weeks, the Strictly live show had a distinct theme, with BBC's 100th Birthday giving way to Halloween, as the judges and the remaining couples all got into the spirit with some eye-catching costumes, with hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman panned for not dressing for the occasion.

Unfortunately for some pairings their performances were more forgettable that frighteningly good, with EastEnders actor James and his pro partner Amy Dowden bottom of the leaderboard, after getting 27 out of 40 for their beekeeper themed Charleston.

After Claudia addressed the 'middle of the leaderboard curse' at the start of the show, that's exactly where former X Factor star Fleur found herself, after she and pro partner Vito Coppola performed a fortune teller inspired salsa to Beyonce's Break My Soul. The comments from the judges for the routine were rather mixed and their marks weren't enough to keep Fleur and Vito out of danger, with them dropping into the dance-off once again, after suffering the same fate three weeks ago.

What made it even more of a bitter pill for Fleur to swallow this time round was that it was her birthday this weekend, with Tess mentioning that fact live on air. The Sax singer looked gutted at learning she was in the dance-off, with Vito grabbing her and hugging her tightly when Tess broke the news. Fleur and Vito will get to dance again, after all four judges opted to save them, after they and James and Amy both reprised their dances.

The fact that Fleur was even in the dance-off again annoyed plenty of viewers at home, with some now identifying a trend similar to when Alexandra Burke landed in the bottom two numerous times in 2017, despite scoring well. One tweeted: "She comes across like a lovely person and clearly talented. It seems like the Alexandra Burke treatment all over again…"

A second reacted: "It's the Alexandra treatment all over again. I knew this would happen to Fleur. The public doesn't like people like her. I agree with everything Motsie said yesterday about her. And she shouldn't be in the dance off," with another posting: "Fleur in the bottom again don’t seem right she had a really fun good dance was one of my favs"
