This news emerges after Helen, who has been a long-time fan of the show - took part in a previous Christmas special, partnering up with Artem Chigvintsev. The news landed on Claudia Winkleman's BBC Radio 2 show today.
The Mirror reports that Claudia told listeners beforehand that her BBC bosses refuse to tell her the list of contestants prior to official announcements as she is known for 'leaking everything'. And as Helen's name was called over the Strictly theme tune, the presenter jokingly said that the music was already making her need to go to the toilet.
Helen revealed she only signed up to Strictly in the last week and agreed to take part for the weekly hair and make-up transformations. She said: "I only said yes the other day, because I did the Christmas one years and years ago and the hair is the best. The make-up is incredible the costumes are incredible.
"Who gets to work and be made to look a bit like Beyonce and have a fun time? So I thought it would be madness not to do it. It will be so much fun."
Claudia agreed, "There really is nothing like it."
Helen recently made headlines when announcing a break-up with her husband Richie, just four months after giving birth to their youngest child. She posted an emotional statement online to confirm that he had left the family home.
On Instagram, she wrote: ""Very sad to say that Richie and I are no longer a couple," alongside two heartbreak emojis. "He has left the family home. We will be doing our best to co parent our small children."
However, she's eager to put that all in the past as the gets set for Strictly's upcoming 20th season.
The presenter's announcement follows a number of great signings for the BBC show including football legend Tony Adams, Paralympian Ellie Simmonds and Coronation Street stars Kym Marsh and Will Mellor.
