Strictly Come Dancing fans were left unimpressed after John and Johannes routine on Saturday night (December 11).
But it definitely wasn't down to their dancing.
The dancing couple got their semi-final off to an emotional start as they performed their couple's choice.
Before their routine to Adele’s Hometown Glory, the VT showed John talking about his upbringing and the moment his family found out he was gay.

Getting emotional, the former Bake Off winner shared how his teacher told his family after he spoke to them in confidence.
Recalling his sister's response, John, from Wigan, said through tears: "I remember my sisters said to me, 'We love you, you're our brother. We love you no matter what you are.'"
The couple were awarded a total of 39 for the routine before returning for their second performance.
John and Johannes gave it their all in an energetic jive to Higher Power by Coldplay.

Craig Revel Horwood said it was "a-m-a-zing", while Motsi Mabuse said she loved the routine from "beginning to end".
Head judge Shirley Ballas said John had "simmered, bubbled and boiled" and described the routine as "superb".
The pair were once again given a near-perfect score of 39 leaving them second on the leaderboard overall behind Rose Ayling-Ellis and AJ Odudu in joint first place.
But Strictly fans weren't impressed by the song chosen for John and Johannes' jive.

@marciehatter tweeted: "All my votes going to John & JoJo tonight - I want them in the final - and they were done over by that terrible choice of music for that great jive. #Strictly."
"I'd have given them an 11 for having that dreadful music to dance to #strictly," @LindaSm47657802 said.
@slinehan1 fumed: "THEY WERE LET DOWN BY THAT MUSIC!! It is BEYOND unfair for them to get this song for a jive, NO ONE could do a great jive to that!! I'm glad the judges picked up on how great John's technique was. But these boys deserve better. EVERYONE VOTE FOR JOHN AND JOHANNES."
"I was worried about Higher Power as a Jive song in #Strictly and I was right to be worried. It was sooooo sloooooooow," @ALRutter commented.
