Strictly Come Dancing fans point out why Rose and Giovanni winning was 'the only result'

Strictly Come Dancing has officially crowned its 2021 winner.

The jam-packed - and very emotional - final on Saturday night saw Rose Ayling-Ellis and John Whaite compete for the final time in the BBC One contest.

The EastEnders actress and professional partner Giovanni Pernice, and the former Bake Off winner and his pro dancer Johannes Rabede, performed three dances in a bid to lift the Glitterball trophy.

After all the performance, the judge's scores left them level on 179 points after two perfect dances and one just shy of full marks.

But in the end, it was down to the public to choose their winner after 13 weeks of tuning in every weekend.

At the end of the episode on Saturday night, Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman revealed that Rose and Giovanni were the winners of Strictly Come Dancing 2021.

The pair, who were favourites to win the whole competition, jumped up and down as they showed their joy at making history.

Rose became the first deaf winner of the BBC One show after being the first-ever deaf contestant, while Giovanni lifted the Glitterball for the first time after seven years on the show.

And as viewers took to social media to have their say on the win, Strictly themselves pointed out that Giovanni has kept up a competition tradition that has run throughout this year.

They tweeted: "Well played again Italy #Strictly," alongside a photo of Rose holding the Italian flag while wearing a party hat and Giovanni rocked a pair of heeled boots.

It comes after Italy won the Eurovision Song Contest earlier this year and then beat England in the Euros.

Italian baker Giuseppe Dell'Anno then won The Great British Bake Off in November.

And fans think it was just meant to be.

@HarperPoile tweeted in response: "The only result there could have been."

"This really has been written in the stars what a great year to be an Italian. Well done Rose and Giovanni. Very well deserved winners! You've raised so much awareness and have broken down so many barriers. Anything really is possible thank you for showing that," @RyanGTweetsTV said.

@dannyLwalker joked: "Eurovision? Bake-off? Euros? And now now strictly! Italy behave now!! #Eurovision #Strictly2021 #RoseandGiovanni."

"I made a joke in the middle of #strictly this yr that rose & giovanni are gonna win to complete italy's domination of all competitions and welp i was right lol they so deserved it though," @not_xpr_art added.
