Strictly Come Dancing fans cheer as Manchester finally gives them what they want on live tour

Strictly Come Dancing fans were chuffed on Saturday as the people of Manchester finally gave them something they have been waiting for.

Stars of the BBC One hit arrived in the city on Saturday ahead of four shows at the AO Arena.

Rose Ayling-Ellis, John Whaite, Rhys Stephenson, Tilly Ramsay, Sara Davies, and 2020 alumni Max George and Maisie Smith, as well as the show's cast of professional dancers, are on the road for the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour 2022.

The group, who were pictured leaving their hotel, performed their first two shows in Manchester on Saturday before taking on the huge crowds again for another double show day on Sunday (January 30).

They did, however, manage to squeeze in a trip to Salford's celebrity haunt, Menagerie, on Saturday evening.

But back to the show itself, those getting to sit in the audience are able to choose a winner for each show.

2021 series winners Rose and Giovanni were on a winning streak until the tour visited Newcastle.

The city's very own Sara Davies and her partner Aljaž Škorjanec managed to pull off a win to her home crowd before Rose and Giovanni returned to the top spot.

But Strictly's Manchester fans had other ideas.

In an official post on the Strictly Come Dancing Live Instagram page, it was revealed that John and dance partner Johannes Radebe won the matinee show at the AO Arena on Saturday (January 29).

Alongside a stunning picture of the pair during their special showdance routine, which they performed during December's final, the post read: "The winners for the first show in Manchester were... John and Johannes!

"Rose and Giovanni were this afternoon's runners up. Congratulations everyone!"

And fans were quick to comment.

"THIS IS WHY MANCHESTER IS THE BEST," @meganlittleee screamed.

@gilliyarns_crochet said: "YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally!!!!!!! I'm so happy for them."

"Yessssss!!!!!!!! Finally justice is served," @ carolerogerson cheered.

@leanne_everest_ commented: "So happy for them they were phenomenal in Birmingham. This win is sooo well deserved. Thank you Manchester!!"

"Yesss my hometown people know which way to go well done @johannesradebe and @john_whaite took a while though," @ ruth.carnall added.

However, Rose and Giovanni did return to winning form for the evening show.
