Strictly Come Dancing Buckingham Palace move 'on the cards' as Charles and Camilla back plans

There could soon be a few foxtrots at Buckingham Palace, with speculation rife that Strictly Come Dancing could take place at The Queen's famous home.

While the country continues to honour Her Majesty's seven decades on the throne, following the four day Platinum Jubilee celebrations last year, it's being reported that her son Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall are huge fans of the long-running BBC show and are keen to bring it to the world famous residence. A source has told The Sun that the royals are "very much driving" the chance of Strictly coming to Buckingham Palace and that "the BBC couldn’t quite believe what was being offered."

A spokesperson for the Royal Family has "declined to comment," on the rumours that the quarter final or semi final of Strictly' s new series could be held at the palace in a ballroom which has hosted 112 state banquets over the years and that Charles and Camilla could even be the hosts, following their recent cameo on EastEnders. The source added that: "a lot of work needs to be done," to get the proposals over the line."

As you'd expect the news that Strictly could be heading to Buckingham Palace has caused a real stir online, with fans in a state of disbelief at the speculation. One took to Twitter to post: "this Strictly Buckingham Palace ballroom idea is gaudy and silly. But lets focus on whats important, not the frivolous," with another tweeting: "Strictly FAB-U-LOUS darling!! Can’t wait for this episode of Strictly at Buckingham Palace! Camilla is a Strictly Superfan; will she & Charles take to the floor?!"

One critic responded: "Smacks of desperation doesn’t it? Going “Hollywood” are they? They need to decide whether they want to be royals or celebrities. lol," but, hitting back, another replied: "There is a trend towards making more use of Buckingham Palace. Prince William has had football games on the lawn, for example. Sherlock had scenes shot inside, as did James Bond. English shows. Strictly is not Hollywood, it is English.
