Strictly Come Dancing 2022: Bros singer Matt Goss confirmed as the eighth celebrity taking part

Matt Goss has been confirmed as the eighth celebrity contestant confirmed to take part in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Best known as the singer of 80s group Bros, the 53-year-old London-born star said he is feeling “extremely nervous” and excited about competing in the BBC dance competition.

In a press release, the When Will I Be Famous hit-maker also described himself as “optimistic,” explaining: “I’m very supple from the knees down.”

This won’t be Goss’ first attempt at taking home the glitterball trophy.

In 2013, the former Las Vegas headliner took part in a Strictly Christmas special with professional dancer Aliona Vilani.

The pair performed the American smooth together, scoring 35 points from the judges, but he was defeated by comedian Rufus Hound, after studio audience votes were taken into account.

This year marks Strictly’s 20th anniversary which will return to BBC One in the autumn hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

The full line-up of celebrities taking part has yet to be announced.

In addition to Goss, other contestants so far confirmed include five-time Paralympic gold medal winning swimmer Ellie Simmonds, Kiss FM DJ Tyler West, comedian Jayde Adams, Loose Women presenter Kaye Adams, Radio 2 host Richie Anderson, Hear’Say singer and soap star Kym Marsh, and former Hollyoaks actor Will Mellor.
