Strictly Come Dancing has added Will Bayley to the 2019 line-up.

The athlete was announced as the tenth star to join this year's edition of the BBC hit on Talkradio this morning.

Bayley, a World Table Tennis Paralympic Champion, is “proud” to be a part of the show’s 17th series which is set to start later this year.

He said: “I’m so proud to be on the show, it’s my family’s favourite show.

“I have no dance experience at all, but I hope I can do well.

“I want to inspire people with a disability – that would mean a lot to me. I want to prove to people I can do this.”

Bayley will represent Great Britain at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2010 and recently won a gold medal at the Japan Open. He previously won consecutive silver and gold medals at the London and Rio Olympic Games in 2012 and 2016.

Strictly star: Michelle Visage will also join the show ()

He is the second Strictly star to be announced today, after RuPaul's Drag Race judge Michelle Visage was confirmed to be joining the show earlier this morning.

The former Celebrity Big Brother contestant said that she is looking forward to "representing women of a certain age" and wants to prove that "being 50 doesn't mean life stops."

They will compete against the likes of former footballer David James, YouTuber Saffron Barkley, EastEnders actress Emma Barton, BBC Breakfast's Mike Bushell, comedian Chris Ramsey, Viscountess Emma Weymouth, Coronation Street's Catherine Tyldesley and CBBC presenter Karim Zeroual.

More celebrities will be announced later this month.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One in the autumn.
