A section of the M8 motorway will be closed for three nights next week.
Westbound between Junction 4A to Junction 5 at the approach to Harthill hard shoulder will be closed from 8.30pm until 6am on the nights of Tuesday 1, Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 March for resurfacing works.
Harthill services will benefit from a £200,000 Transport Scotland investment in resurfacing improvements, which will take place alongside ongoing upgrades to safety barriers in the central reservation.
A diversion route for westbound traffic will be signposted from Junction 4A to Junction 5 via the B7066 and B7057, adding an estimated 2 minutes and 0.4 miles to affected journeys. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve safety and ride quality for motorists using this section of the M8.
“Road closures are essential for safety, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption.”
