Skygazers are in for a treat as a "Strawberry Moon" is set to illuminate the sky this weekend.
The full Moon will be visible over Ireland and the UK in the early hours of Sunday morning at around 4.41 am when it will be at its fullest. The Strawberry Moon will be the first full moon of the summer.
Met Eireann has forecasted a dry and largely clear night which means the Moon will be visible in all its glory. Contrary to its name, Strawberry Moon isn't actually pink in colour.

The phenomenon is named after wild strawberries that are gathered by Native American tribes after they ripen in June. Other native names for this type of moon are "Berries Ripen Moon, Green Corn Moon, and Hot Moon".
The Celtic names for Strawberry Moon are "Horse Moon, Dyan Moon, and Rose Moon". Other English names are "Flower Moon and Planting Moon".
