Strathaven’s annual Reindeer Day celebrations beat the weather last Sunday as crowds braved the wind and rain to welcome Santa and his friends to town.

Strong winds and heavy rain on Saturday and Sunday morning caused some disruption to the event, but didn’t dampen spirits as the team from the Cairngorm Reindeer Centre pulled Santa’s sleigh and led the parade around the town.

Residence Estate Agents on Green Street played host to Santa’s Grotto on the day, welcoming children and families to meet before the parade around the Common Green.

Following the procession, the lights on the Christmas tree and new lights in the Common Green were officially switched on, lighting up Strathaven for Christmas.
