Strategy roguelike game The Deadly Path poses an uncomfortable question: "Am I actually any good at strategy games?"

The Deadly Path appearing in FGS Live from GDC.

Devilish strategy roguelike game The Deadly Path just unveiled a new trailer at The Future Games Show Spring Showcase - Live from GDC.

The Deadly Path places you in the role of The Custodian, and while that might sound like a nice, fancy title, it's not all it's cracked up to be. You've upset the mostly unpleasant gods of the Dread Pantheon, and now they're about to exact their toll.

If you hope to survive, you'll have to put your strategy brain to the test. Thankfully, your role as The Custodian does come with some benefits, even if that's only the ability to boss even more unfortunate minions around. It's up to you (and those minions) to construct buildings, recruit servants, and defend the Dread Domain from those who would seek to harm it, all while striving to keep the Gods of the Pantheon happy - every so often, they'll take from you in the pursuit of their eventual ascension, and you'd better hope you've got what they want.

If dealing with all that unpleasantness seems like something you're interested in, the good news is that you won't have very long to wait. As well as being narrated by comedian Alasdair Beckett-King, the new trailer reconfirms that The Deadly Path's release date is just around the corner, as it's releasing on Steam on March 25.
