Stranger Things returned to Netflix this week as the second volume of season four premiered on the streaming service.
The popular show has returned for the second volume of a bumper series four and fans of the programme have been left reeling by the death of a major character which sent shockwaves through the fan community.
The creators - the Duffer Brothers - have now shared more heartbreaking details from behind the scenes of the huge death scene, revealing that one particularly poignant moment of it was actually improvised by the actors.
In the scene, Eddie Munson - the leader of the Hellfire Club - was tragically killed. He sustained fatal injuries from bats, after he and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) were asked to watch for Vecna.
"I didn’t run away this time, right? You’re gonna have to look after those little sheep for me," Eddie said to Dustin his final moments, adding: "I think it’s my year, Henderson. I think it’s finally my year. I love you man."
Dustin then told him "I love you too" before Eddie died in his arms.
And now The Duffer Brothers have revealed that actor Joseph Quinn was actually the one who improvised one of the lines.
"'I love you, man' was improvised by Joe," they wrote on Twitter alongside a behind the scenes photo from filming.
It comes after Joseph admitted he was grateful people were "missing" his character already.
"I think, you know, we don’t want to upset anyone! But yeah, I think I got a text from the Duffers a little couple of weeks ago saying that they were bracing themselves for something. I’m delighted that people have responded in the way that they have done to Eddie, so if they’re missing him, then that’s a lovely thing. It feels very gratifying," he told Radio Times.
There will be one more season of Stranger Things, a fifth, before the show wraps up. It also stars the likes of Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler and Joe Keery as Steve Harrington.
