Stranger Things Coney Island Theme Park NYC: Netflix hit show will inspire 80s-themed attractions

Coney Island is about to look a lot more like Hawkins, Indiana this Fourth of July weekend. Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park, which already feels like the ultimate blast from the past, is getting a 1980's Stranger Things transformation from July 5 through 7.

The theme park will be “Stranger-fied” to feature a Hawkins Scoops Ahoy ice cream shop, Deno’s Wonder Wheel, Tilt-A-Whirl, bumper cars and a carousel. Guests can also find themed prizes throughout the park to bring some “Stranger-fied” goodies home. There will be a Hawkins Fourth of July Spectacular Fireworks Show at 9:30 pm on July 5 to help fans celebrate the holiday in supernatural style.

(Netflix)

If you’re bi-coastal, you can catch the Hawkins-inspired theme park at the Santa Monica Pier this weekend, with appearances from ‘80s cover bands and the Hawkins’ High School cheerleading squad. There will also be food eating competitions, magicians and a Hawkins Bike Shop.

(Netflix)

These strange celebrations are in honor of the third season's release on Netflix this July 4. If you can't make it to the park, grab some merch to live out your Stranger Things fantasies. We suggest a bike, Eggo waffles and Converse high-tops.
