Two highly anticipated shows have added content warnings to their opening episodes, as scenes may remind viewers of the tragic events that occurred in Uvalde, Texas last Tuesday.
Both Stranger Things and Obi Wan Kenobi were released days after the school shooting, and both feature scenes which involve the death of children in their opening episodes.
Netflix and Disney+ have both since addressed this, adding content warnings to their shows to let viewers know about the potentially distressing scenes ahead of time.
The Stranger Things warning reads: “We filmed this season of Stranger Things a year ago. But given the recent tragic shooting at a school in Texas, viewers may find the opening scene of episode one distressing.
"We are deeply saddened by this unspeakable violence, and our hearts go out to every family mourning a loved one.”
Multiple versions of content warnings have appeared ahead of Obi-Wan Kenobi's opening episode in the first 24 hours since it was released, say Yahoo News.
A Disney spokesman said: "In light of recent tragic events, we recognize there are certain scenes in this fictional series that some viewers may find upsetting and a content warning has been added to the show page.
"We are also working to add an advisory in front of the series as quickly as possible."
Twitter users no ted the warnings ahead of each show, with one user saying: "stranger things are not lying about the opening scene of season 4 being disturbing after this weeks events, so don’t take that warning lightly."
Another did add that: "The warning card in stranger things does not at all prepare you for the opening scene."
The user advises fans to skip to 9.30 of the show if they do not want to watch the potentially upsetting scene.
A third Twitter user said they were relieved that the Obi Wan Kenobi show added a warning, posting: "I'm glad Disney+ thought to add a content warning to the first #ObiWanKenobi episode.
"That opening flashback scene did take my mind to recent events, and I imagine it would be triggering for many people."
Both shows have been highly anticipated by fans and are expected to be major series for their respective streaming services.
