Stranger Things actress Maya Hawke's 'life changing' Miley Cyrus experience

Maya Hawke has described her 'life changing' experience seeing Miley Cyrus perform live.

The Stranger Things actress appeared on BBC Radio 1 putting together a chill mix of songs and discussing why she chose them. The mix included the song Angels Like You by Miley Cyrus.

Speaking about why she chose the song, Hawke explained a 'life changing' experience seeing her perform live as a child. She saw Cyrus touring while she was still performing as Hannah Montana, her famous Disney Channel character.

Speaking to Radio 1, Maya Hawke said: "I did see Miley Cyrus live when I was 12 years old, where she was half Miley, half Hannah, and she put the blond wig on halfway through. It was an epic theatrical event.

"I saw it in New Jersey, and it was life-changingly brilliant. I loved it."

She goes on to explain why she loves the song Angels Like You. She said: "I really love Miley's voice. It's so.. to have that level of grit and that level of control is so hard.

"And so there's a certain amount of when she does things that are really stripped back and you can really hear the timbre and power of her vocals where I'm just overwhelmingly impressed. And I find that she has a lot of covers where she does that.

"But this is an original that I think is so well-written, and so brave, that really moves me and you can hear it in her voice so clearly, and there's a lyric in it which is "I'm everything they said I would be", that always stabs me in the heart a little."
