'Strange' forecast issued by Irish weather expert for Saturday

It has been a mixed bag over the last few days when it comes to the weather, bucketing rain one minute while the sun blasts the next.

Unfortunately, one weather expert has suggested that this weekend isn’t going to be much different, with both Saturday and Sunday bringing sunny spells as well as some rain.

Alan O Reilly, posting on his page Carlow Weather, reported that Saturday would be a “strange” sort of day, with a lot of clouds and a little bit of rain. Sunday however, will be a mix of “sunny spells and heavy scattered showers.”

In a post on his Twitter page, O’Reilly wrote: “Tomorrow will be a strange sort of day, warm, very breezy with a lot of cloud but little rain. Up to 26C with best of sunny spells in east.

“Sunday will see a band of heavy rain clearing East in the morning followed by mix of sunny spells and heavy scattered showers.”

Met Eireann’s projections are somewhat similar, with the national forecasting predicting that Saturday will begin a “warm, humid and breezy” day with a great deal of cloud and some rain and drizzle throughout the day.

According to this weekend’s prediction, Saturday will be warm, humid and breezy with sunny spells gradually breaking through across many areas.

It will however remain cloudy across southern counties, and along parts of the west coast with some rain and drizzle. The odd sharp shower may develop further north later.

Highest temperatures of 19C to 26C, warmest across the midlands, east and northeast, in moderate to fresh southerly winds.

Saturday night will be cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle, turning heavier and more persistent in the west and southwest later in the night. The temperatures will be mild not falling below 13C to 16C in moderate southerly winds.

The rain will clear eastwards later, with scattered showers and sunny spells following from the west. Highest temperatures of 17C in the west to 23C in the east with moderate to fresh southerly winds, veering westerly.

There will be a mix of clear spells and scattered showers on Sunday night. Cloud will thicken from the west later on.

A cooler night with the lowest temperatures reaching 10C to 13C in a light to moderate westerly breeze.
