NIGEL Farage has been accused of “straight up racism” towards Kamala Harris after suggesting the Democrat party won’t “get rid of a black African woman”.
The Reform UK leader was giving his reaction to LBC after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race for the White House.
Democratic elected officials, party leaders and political organisations have quickly lined up behind his vice president Harris to replace him as the Democrat candidate.
A number of celebrities, including Star Trek actor George Takei and Oscar-winning actress Jamie Lee Curtis, have also urged people to support Harris.
Harris is the only declared candidate so far and is working to quickly secure endorsements from a majority of delegates.
Farage was interviewed about the latest developments on Monday but was blasted after he described Harris as a “black African women”.
Harris was born in Oakland, California. Her father, Donald J. Harris, is Jamaican American while her mother, Shyamala Gopalan, is of Tamil Indian origin.
Farage told LBC he didn’t think Donald Trump would be worried about Harris running.
The MP said: “She had a go herself at running for the presidential nomination, she dropped out before the New Hampshire primary which is very early in the process.
“She, as vice president, was put in charge of the border, didn’t even bother to visit for a couple of years.

“I have to say, I think Donald Trump will be delighted that she’s the opponent because I cannot see – I mean, there is a possibility that at their convention in a few weeks time there’s a big open fight and somebody else comes through – but I cannot see the Democrat Party getting rid of a black African woman.
“I just cannot see it.”
His comments have been called out on social media with one user describing them as a “straight up racism”.
They added: “Kamala Harris was born in America. She’s American.”
Another user, Lorraine King, added: “I know he thinks all black people are African – like most racists do – but Kamala is American.
“Furthermore her mother is from India and father is from Jamaica – neither of those countries are in the continent of Africa.”
It comes after the BBC was called out for “disgraceful” platforming of Farage in the aftermath of an assassination attempt on Trump.
He was interviewed on the Laura Kuenssberg show earlier this month where he spoke of a “nasty narrative” he felt the media put out there about Trump.
Back in 2017 Farage threatened to “pick up a rifle” if he didn’t get the exact form of Brexit that he wanted, yet he claimed violent language by BBC comedians and commentators has “encouraged” what happened to Trump.
Biden was forced to pull out of the presidential race after multiple concerns were expressed around his suitability following his confused performance in a key debate against Trump.
He immediately endorsed Harris who said she was "honoured", adding "my intention is to earn and win this nomination".
Farage has been approached for comment.
