Stormzy and Peppa Pig is the crossover we didn't know we needed

Stormzy and Peppa Pig have teased a new collaboration - and it’s just what we need right now.

Though the BRIT Award-winning rapper, 26, and the much-loved cartoon pig, four, might seem like an unusual pairing, their unlikely friendship began when Peppa followed Stormzy on Twitter.

After one Twitter user pointed out Peppa’s unexpected social media move, the character’s official Twitter account responded with a nod to the star’s upcoming album Heavy Is The Head, tweeting the title along with a GIF showing Peppa wearing a crown.

The rapper was understandably left baffled by the exchange and re-posted the cartoon’s post with the message: “Wtf is going on lmao.”

Peppa’s account then replied with a reference to her new festive tune Bing Bong Christmas, which is vying for the Christmas number one spot against more established artists such as Robbie Williams and Mariah Carey. A donation from every stream and download will go to Save the Children.

Stormzy responded by suggesting that they join forces on a track, writing: “Let’s collab. How we gonna do this?”

A final message from the character’s account then read: “Better ask Daddy Pig…”

Stormzy’s fans appeared to be backing the potential collaboration, describing it as “the collab of 2020” and “what we need,” while another suggested that Peppa could re-brand as Notorious P.I.G.

The star is not the only famous name to receive the honour of being followed by Peppa, who also keeps tabs on the likes of Emma Bunton, Lady Gaga, Louis Theroux, Sadiq Khan and Black Mirror co-creator Charlie Brooker.

Peppa released her first studio album, Bing Bong Zoo in June, while Stormzy’s second album Heavy Is The Head is out on Friday.
