Adult film actress Stormy Daniels is set to continue her testimony in former President Donald Trump's criminal trial in New York. The trial revolves around a 2016 'hush money' payment allegedly made to Daniels on Trump's behalf.
Trump is facing 34 counts of falsifying business documents related to the repayment of his former attorney Michael Cohen for payments made before the 2016 election to conceal Trump's alleged affair with Daniels. Trump has pleaded not guilty and denied the affair.
Daniels, also known as Stephanie Clifford, claims to have had a one-night stand with Trump in 2006. The controversy came to light in January 2018 when reports surfaced about a $130,000 payment made to Daniels.
In a documentary titled 'Stormy,' released on Peacock in March, Daniels revealed that she accepted the payment to protect her family and create a paper trail linking her to Trump for safety reasons. She expressed fears for her life, stating, 'I was completely sure that I was gonna die.'
Prosecutors in New York have alleged that Trump attempted to influence the 2016 election by concealing damaging information that could have impacted his campaign. Charging documents claim that Trump falsified business records to hide criminal conduct and prevent negative details from reaching the public during the election.
