Christmas thunderstorms and showers could be in store for Australia's east coast with southeast states facing moderate and overcast conditions.
In a Christmas forecast released on Monday, the Bureau of Meteorology said afternoon showers and thunderstorms are possible for central and northern Queensland, with Brisbane to have a top of 32C.
Showers and storms are also possible for much of coastal NSW, including Sydney, with an onshore wind bringing partly or mostly cloudy conditions.
The city is forecast to have a top of 26C.
"With Christmas still a week away, the forecast is subject to change," senior meteorologist Angus Hines said.
"However Australia can start preparing for the festive season with the likely weather in mind."
Hobart and Melbourne will both have cloudy days and cooler-than-average temperatures with showers possible, especially in the morning.
Melbourne is tipped to reach a high of 21C and Hobart 18C.
One or two showers could reach Canberra, however the bureau said rain looks unlikely for the nation's capital.
Western Australia is facing uncertain conditions, with a low-pressure system potentially bringing wet weather to the state's interior.
Perth should be partly cloudy with the mercury tipped to hit 32C.
Adelaide is also likely to get some sunshine and a top of 24C, but early winds from the southeast could mean a cool and cloudy start to the day.
The Northern Territory can expect some seasonal afternoon showers and storms around Darwin, however impacts from the remnants of ex-tropical cyclone Jasper look unlikely.
Darwin should have a top of 35C.
