Images show the 'swift and incredible' damage caused by Storms Eunice and Franklin to one of Merseyside's most loved areas of coastline.
Pictures show huge piles of rubble scattered across the picturesque beach following the dramatic weather yesterday and last week.
One image was shared by resident Michael Doran, who described the scenes of coastal erosion as 'heart-breaking.'

He said: "Storms Eunice and Franklin have utterly destroyed Formby Beach.
"There must be 3 metres of erosion easy, with 6ft drops to the beach and rubble at the Victoria Road end everywhere."
He added: "You've got one hell of a job on your hands National Trust Formby."
Responding to Mr Doran's post, Sefton Council admitted the damage done to the Formby coastline by consecutive storms was huge.
The council said: "Our Green Sefton team and National Trust Formby work all year round to combat coastal erosion.
"Yet the impact of Storm Eunice and Storm Franklin on our coastline has been swift and incredible.
"This is one of the many reasons why we asked people to stay away from coastal areas this weekend."
Mr Doran added: "The destruction to the dunes in places is absolutely breathtaking and heartbreaking to see."
Storms Eunice and Franklin caused widespread damage across our region including fallen trees and dangerous debris being blown from buildings.
There was major travel disruption too, with Merseyrail and Northern Rail forced to cancel large numbers of services - while a number of schools were also closed.
Franklin was the fifth storm to hit our region already this year - and the Met Office is predicting more wet and windy weather to come.
