The Met Office has warned that winds of up to 60mph could cause damage to buildings, bring down trees and disrupt travel across Merseyside as Storm Franklin hits the city.
The fresh warning comes days after Storm Eunice caused chaos in the region.
Winds of around 50mph are expected later today.

The Met Office has predicted stronger winds on Monday reaching speeds of up to 60 mph.

Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected.
Today Merseyrail warned of cancellations to services tonight and tomorrow.
The weather front could also cause power cuts and affect mobile signals.
The Met Office has warned that large waves could cause injuries and present a danger to life.
This afternoon there were dramatic conditions off New Brighton with large waves crashing against the sea wall.
In Lancashire flood warnings are in place for the River Ribble in Walton-le-Dale and Samlesbury.
A Merseyrail spokesman said: "Due to very strong winds forecast, it is likely that there will be disruption to Merseyrail services on Sunday night and Monday morning.
"On Monday 21 February, some of the first timetabled trains will be cancelled.
"This is to allow trains to run to check lines are clear of debris before passenger services begin. Please see below for timetable information.
"Passengers are advised to check for the latest live updates before travelling and to prepare alternative transport in case services cannot run, as it is unlikely rail replacement buses will be able to operate.
