The Hunter is bracing for strong winds as wild weather continues to bluster across the east coast.
The NSW Bureau of Meteorology released a warning in the early hours of Friday for "storm force" winds on the Hunter, Sydney and Illawarra coasts throughout the day.
A gale warning is in place for Saturday on the Hunter, Macquarie, Sydney, Illawarra, Batemans and Eden coasts.
"Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with damaging wind gusts of around 90 km/h are likely for parts of the Snowy Mountains and Upper Hunter overnight [Friday to Saturday]," the BoM said.
Up to 30mm of rain was recorded in parts of Newcastle between 9am on Thursday and 8am on Friday.
Wollombi Brook remains at a minor flood level but is expected to recede back to normal in the next 24 hours.
