The Prince of Wales’ engagements in South Wales on Friday have been postponed because of Storm Eunice, Clarence House said.
The Met Office issued a rare red weather warning as Britain braces to be battered by Storm Eunice.
It warned there could be “flying debris resulting in danger to life”.
Prince Charles has cancelled his trips to Newport and Swansea on Friday amid the forecast there will be gales up to 90mph.
His engagements will be rescheduled at a later date.
In the wake of the news, a spokesman for the prince said: “Following official guidance, the Prince of Wales’s visit to Newport and Swansea on Friday 18th February will not go ahead due to the dangers posed by Storm Eunice.
“In the interests of public safety, these engagements will be postponed with a view to rescheduling at a future date.”
Last week, Prince Charles tested positive for Covid for the second time.
At the time, a statement from Clarence House said: “This morning The Prince of Wales has tested positive for Covid-19 and is now self-isolating.
“HRH is deeply disappointed not to be able to attend today’s events in Winchester and will look to reschedule his visit as soon as possible.”
The royal first tested positive for Covid at the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
