Storm Eunice: More closures of Nottinghamshire services, parks and attractions due to strong winds

Severe conditions from Storm Eunice have forced more closures of events, buildings and services across Nottinghamshire.

Schools, roads and businesses have shut across the UK, with major disruption to the travel network due to concerns over flying debris caused by gusts of up to 90mph because of Storm Eunice.

Homes have been left without power, while the Met Office issued two ultra rare “red” weather warnings – from 7am until midday Friday February 18 along the coastline of Devon, Cornwall and Somerset as well as the south coast of Wales, and from 10am until 3pm over the East of England and London – due to the combination of high tides, strong winds and storm surge.

Passengers should not travel on the East Coast Main Line on Friday as Storm Eunice hits Nottingham, according to Network Rail.

And East Midlands Railway has said: "We are advising customers to not travel today due to the possible severe disruption from Storm Eunice. The Met Office has issued a rare Red Weather Warning as Storm Eunice is expected to bring extremely strong winds and continued disruption."
