Storm Eunice gritter tracker Scotland - see where fleet is working in your area

Gritters in Scotland are out in full force today for snowy Storm Eunice as the Met Office's widespread snow warning is in force across much of the country.

Scotland's gritters are some of the best named in the biz with names like Oor Chilly, Sled Zeppelin and The Great Grittish Flake-off.

The Met Office forecast says that Storm Eunice could bring a whopping 20cm of snow over high ground and even accumulate up to 5cm in the lowlands.

A large swathe of central, eastern and southern parts of Scotland is covered by the snow warning today, which is active from 3am to 6pm.

Traffic Scotland and ScotRail are issuing live travel updates during the storm as drivers in Aberdeen and Dundee have been warned to take care due to freezing temperatures.

Heavy snowfall was captured on the A83 from Clachan to Tarbet (Twitter / BEAR NW Trunk Roads)

It's good news then that the fleet of gritters have been issued to deal with the difficult conditions on the roads today.

At present, you can see Robert Brrrns on the A75 near Castle Douglas and BFG - Big Friendly Gritter keeping the M8 safe this morning.

A full map of Scotland's gritters is available via Traffic Scotland's gritter tracker.
