Storm Eunice: Disruption to buses, trains and on roads of Nottinghamshire as winds of 60mph set to hit

People have been advised to only travel if essential with travel delays and cancellations expected as Storm Eunice hits Nottinghamshire.

The Met Office has issued a rare red weather warning for parts of the UK on Friday, February 18, and said there could be “flying debris resulting in danger to life”.

The expected storm has prompted East Midlands Railway to urge its customers not to travel at all, with National Highways echoing that message to motorists.

The fire service has also advised people to stay indoors, if possible, and limit travel.

Nottinghamshire County Council also urged people to stay at home if they can with wind gusts expected to be around 60mph or above throughout Friday, February 18.

Network Rail also people not to travel in the East Midlands or on the East Coast Main Line.

Trentbarton has also published an updated list of buses which will not run today.

There are disruptions to the i4, 141 and threes services, the bus company said.

Parks across the county have also been closed.

Sherwood Forest, Rufford Abbey, Holme Pierrepont and Bestwood Country Park will all be shut to visitors to ensure safety.

The county council said: "Advice for residents includes only travelling if essential, staying away from wooded areas and parks and checking for updates from public transport providers before making any journeys."
