Storm Eowyn's destruction pictured as clear up underway

STORM Eowyn has battered Scotland since Friday causing widespread travel disruption and leaving 100,000 homes without power.

The strongest storm in ten years sparked a rare red weather warning from the Met Office, with the Scottish Government urging people to only travel when absolutely necessary.

Clear up work is now under way but thousands of homes remain without power and road, rail and ferry travel remains disrupted in places.

The troublesome weather is likely to continue, with new yellow weather warnings for wind, snow and ice in place over Saturday and Sunday.

In the aftermath of last night’s gusts trees have fallen onto cars, trampolines have been flung onto railway lines, and buildings have been damaged by debris and harsh winds.
