Trains across Scotland will remain cancelled as of Thursday morning in the wake of Storm Dudley.
ScotRail had cancelled all services owing to the storm after 4pm on Wednesday due to the amber weather warning in place.
They said that they would not know the full extent of the damage which the bad weather would cause until the following morning.
The train operator have now confirmed that they are trying to get trains up and running as soon as possible with safety checks underway.
ScotRail tweeted at 6.11am: "Due to the early shut down following Storm Dudley we’re doing our best to get our services back up and running as quickly as possible.
"As Network Rail Scotland engineers continue to do safety checks our services will not run until the lines have been cleared as safe to re-open."
Network Rail Scotland had shared dramatic images of the damage which the bad weather had causes.
One showed a tree which had fallen onto an overhead power line at Kilwinning, North Ayrshire, as a result of the 90mph winds.
The Met Office has now imposed a yellow wind warning for most of Scotland until 6pm on Friday.
