Make the most of the bank holiday sunshine while it lasts as a storm could be on the way. Forecasters are closely watching a deepening Atlantic low that could bring some stormy conditions to the UK.
Welsh forecaster Derek Brockway says that if it develops we could see the first named storm of the season - Storm Antoni. The storms list – first launched in 2015 – for each year generally runs from early September until late August the following year, coinciding with the beginning of autumn. See the current full list here. It would be late in the season to have the first named storm.
The BBC Wales forecaster says: "A deepening Atlantic low could bring a dose of wet and very windy weather next week. Uncertainty at this stage in the depth and exact track the low will take but one to watch. Could it be named Storm Antoni the first on the met Office 22/23 list? Stay tuned!"
The Met Office says: "More unsettled, and potentially stormy weather, is expected during the middle of next week due to a deep area of low pressure which is set to track across the UK."
They shared some images of what it will look like on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
The Met Office UK long range forecast says: "Tuesday will likely mark the arrival of a low pressure system to or close to the UK, bringing generally unsettled conditions for the first few days of this period, with strong winds and rain. Coastal gales possible, mainly in the west and northwest. By Thursday these winds should ease, but further rain or showers are possible."
Before that it is forecast to stay dry and bright for Wales at the start of the Easter bank holiday weekend and will not start to change until Sunday.
The Met Office forecast for Wales says: "Mist and fog patches soon melting away on Saturday to leave another dry day with bright or sunny intervals. Feeling pleasant in the sunshine though breezier than Friday. Maximum temperature 16 °C.
"Dry with hazy sunshine on Sunday and breezy. Rain arriving overnight followed by sunny spells and blustery showers on Monday. Unsettled on Tuesday with outbreaks of rain and stronger winds."
