Stonehenge tops bucket list of places in the UK you need to see before you die

It’s been around for 5,000 years but Stonehenge proves old is best when it comes to Britain’s finest sights.

The spectacular, prehistoric stone circle on Salisbury Plain is the oldest man-made landmark on a list of places all Brits should see before they die.

It took the top spot, beating the view from Newcastle’s Tyne Bridge and Brighton’s Royal Pavilion, in a bucket list survey. Second in the top 30 were the White Cliffs of Dover followed by Snowdonia, Ben Nevis and Lake Windermere.

Picture-postcard pretty St Ives harbour, The Giant’s Causeway and Hadrian’s Wall, all made the top 10.

Our other favourite sights include Cheddar Gorge, the London Eye, Arthur’s Seat and The Needles.

In the Vision Express survey of 1,500 adults, four in 10 said it was easy to forget how beautiful Britain is. Its optical services director Dan McGhee said: “Our research shows that there are some amazing places right here in the UK to enjoy with your loved ones.”
