Stone Roses’ Mani announces return of superstar auction after raising more than £100k for charity

Stone Roses legend Mani and his wife have announced they will be holding another superstar auction following the huge success of last year’s event.

Manchester music icon Gary Mani Mounfield and wife Imelda Mounfield helped raise more than £100k for The Christie and Stockport NHS Charity during an online auction last year, which sold off the likes of David Beckham's boots, Oasis platinum discs and a John Squire guitar.

The pair have now unveiled plans for a night of entertainment, along with another auction, to be held at The Edwardian Manchester hotel in September.

The fundraising event will be a seated three-course dinner with entertainment throughout the evening via a cabaret, including music, comedy and poetry. It will be rounded off with an auction, which will also run online simultaneously to give people all over the world the opportunity to bid for many fantastic prizes donated by bands, footballers and actors.

All profits raised from the ‘world-class’ event will go to Maggie's, a charity close to the couple’s hearts. Maggie’s provides free cancer support and advice in centres across the UK, including at The Christie. Imelda said the charity has helped her through her own treatment since being diagnosed with bowel cancer three years ago.

"Maggie's charity has supported us from the start, with counselling and using resources to help explain to our children the enormity of cancer and its effects on the whole family,” she explains.

“This fantastic service is available to all cancer patients at The Christie, run solely on charitable donations. Maggie's has all sorts of support groups and services, from writing workshops to yoga to legal and benefits advice. It's a continuing battle for me, and I'll be using their services more in the future."

The event will be taking place on September 14 with more details to be announced.
